Sanaeé Walker (b.2005), from Albuquerque, New Mexico, is now based in Oceanside, California. Currently focused on Oil painting and Collage, she draws inspiration from the planet, her own lived experiences, and dreams.
Sanaeé enjoys creating life-like depictions of bodies or objects paired with more organic, abstracted forms. These organic forms are seen in vine-like swirls and surreal landscapes. With this combination, Sanaeé designs art that uses geometric shapes and fluid elegance.
Regarding materials, she enjoys using mixed media to convey her idea of the overlap that exists between physical reality and the unseen we call the divine.
Artist Statement
“I am a maker, explorer, and witness to the magic of this universe I've been blessed to experience. Moving around all my life, I’ve had a fragile connection to my heritage, extended family, and cultural roots. Because of this, I have found a strong inclination to build these pillars of connection to lean on for myself. I do so by depicting similarities I see in the two most frequent homes I have ever known, the body and the Earth.
As a whole, I strive to depict symbols, objects, and memories that I find divine using different media like oil paint, film, and collage to prompt attentiveness towards the magnificent nature of the world, ourselves, and its inhabitants around us.
